Citizen participation in decisions concerning the environment

11 organisations, the Society for the Protection of Prespa is one of them, stress that today the right to participate in the decision-making process concerning the environment is extremely limited.
Unhindered public participation and transparency in the environmental decision-making process is a legally guaranteed individual and social right, both in Greece and in the EU. Apart from being a requirement for every democratic state, participation is also a necessary condition for social legitimacy and for the effective implementation of decisions and the overall transition towards climate neutrality and sustainable development.
