This year’s damage from adverse weather conditions in Prespa and the bean fields nearly caused the cancellation of the Koula Music Festival, organized by the Prespiots Cultural Association. The unforeseen additional work in the fields and the dampened spirits of the locals momentarily discouraged the organizers. However, they eventually decided to join forces with the local social cooperative enterprise ‘Nature and Culture,’ the Municipality of Prespa, and the Poliprespa program to persevere in their efforts to organize the festival.
Thus, this year, a delightful two-day music event was organized on August 16 and 17, keeping the festival tradition alive. Musical bands from Florina and Kastoria performed at the old beach of Koula, exciting the residents of Prespa and attracting a considerable number of foreign visitors to the area, considering the short preparation and communication period for the event.
Locals of all ages supported the event with their presence, giving Prespa an opportunity to gather, have fun, and boost their morale during a challenging summer. The good cooperation with local bands, who responded promptly to this year’s invitation, promises a festival next year that will include music and participants from the three neighboring countries!
