Little Scientists – Big Discoveries

An exciting two-day robotics event was organized at the municipal library of Laimos Prespa on December 27 and 28 in collaboration with Robotixlab for children in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of elementary school and 1st grade of middle school.

During the four sessions, the children created an LED night light for their room, set their robots in motion on a treasure hunt, programmed a video game, familiarized themselves with 3D design, and finally, with the help of a 3D printer, turned two plastic bottles into a clothes hanger!

All the children expressed their excitement about their experience at the robotics workshop. Over these four days, they had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge of school physics in practice and combine it with new technologies and play. The first introduction to the world of robotics captivated the young students of Prespa, who eagerly await the next sessions. It is important to note that organizing such activities in remote areas like Prespa is even more significant not only because they increase the stimuli for the children but also because they highlight the power of technology as a means of communication and dissemination of ideas. The design and implementation of the workshop were undertaken by Antonis Kanouras, a robotics engineer, and physicist Alexia Athanasiadou (Robotixlab).
