THE TRAIL

The route initially follows the cove of Psarades bay where the hiker, apart from the unique view of the Great Prespa lake, enjoys the intense Mediterranean atmosphere of the juniper forest of Prespa. Prespa region is one of the few areas in the Balkans where large and preserved areas of juniper forests are found. These forests are particularly rare in Europe and therefore enjoy special protection status under European legislation. The route continues through scrubland and gaps towards Cape Roti. A steep detour leads to the hermitage of Metamorphosis, which has been nestled in the base of the cliffs of the coast since the 13th century.
