2nd meeting of the Prespa People’s Forum

The second meeting of citizens from the Prespa cross-border region, as part of the Prespa People’s Forum, took place in Resen, North Macedonia, on March 11th and 12th, 2026.
On the first day of the two-day meeting, the discussion focused on the management of Prespa’s agro-ecosystems, the impacts of climate change on Prespa’s waters and crops, and the future of agriculture, with the goal of building a resilient rural economy.
On the second day, discussions focused on the infrastructure connecting or capable of connecting the three countries and the institutional challenges, initiatives for young people and how cross-border cooperation can boost the influx of young people into the region, forms of alternative and sustainable tourism, and finally, how local products can be utilized in tourism.
Following the meetings, participants were given a tour of the Environmental Monitoring Station and the Visitor Information Center of Galicica National Park (Stenje), the Church of St. George (Kurbinovo), Saraj (Resen), and the National Institute and Museum in Bitola.
ℹ️ Prespa People’s Forum is a platform for dialogue among the residents of the municipalities of Prespa, Pustec, and Resen, which aims to foster cooperation in addressing common challenges related to sustainable development, regional development, and tourism. It is implemented by the Municipality of Prespa, in collaboration with the Municipalities of Resen and Pustec, as part of the PULSE project: Prespa United through Local Sustainability and Engagement, through the Town Twinning program.
